Most of us love our pets every day of the year, but in case you need a reminder, The Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine is marking the occasion with the Yappy Hour returning as a regular Thursday feature, weather permitting, at Packers from March 26 through the end of the summer. The resort, located on the Semiahmoo Spit, where Semiahmoo County Park encompasses more than 300 acres of tidelands and a dog-friendly 1.5-mile sandspit trail.

Semiahmoo Resort is near multiple beaches and miles of trails, making it the perfect place to bring your dog and explore the great outdoors,” said Mark Andrew, the resort’s general manager. “We are excited to celebrate the love of our pets with this great package and help dog owners enjoy a weekend getaway with their loyal companion. ”For $204-$254 per night, guests can book the Bed and Bowl package, which includes the hotel’s $25 pet fee and provides a dog bed along with bowls for food and water. Dogs can order a $20 half-pound of cooked ground beef with rice, or a $5 can of premium dog food from the room service menu. Hotel guests are limited to two dogs, not weighing more than 50 pounds each.

The Bed and Bowl package is offered year round, and can be booked online with the promo code PUPPY.  While dogs are always welcome on the outdoor deck, Yappy Hour treats include complimentary bone-shaped biscuits as well as a menu of gourmet snacks. People can sit beside their pups and take in the view while sipping dog-themed cocktails like the Smokey Dog and Lassie, Take Me Home. Don’t forget, dogs entering the United States are required to have proof of current rabies vaccination and should have a signed health certificate from a licensed veterinarian that declares the animal healthy. Vaccinations must have been given at least 30 days before entering the country. Puppies younger than four months old cannot cross the border because they are too young to be vaccinated for rabies.
